President of Hast & Company, Thomas D. Hast is a licensed broker in the State of Colorado with over thirty-three years experience in real estate.With a B.A. from Reed College in Portland, Oregon in 1972, and a background in machine maintenance, arts management, and college administration, Hast entered the property management field in 1977.In 1979 he formed Hast & Company which quickly became the largest property management company in Boulder County.The company currently employs over 40 people and manages residential, office, retail, light industrial and homeowner association properties worth over $500 million throughout the Denver metro area.Working with a number of large lending institutions, Hast has also done extensive consulting work, has acted as Receiver for numerous office, retail, and multi-family properties, and has acted as an Expert Witness in a number of real estate related cases.He has also taught several classes on Receiverships and other related topics. Hast is a Certified Property Manager (CPM®), a designation conferred by The Institute of Real Estate Management, a national professional organization.He is also founder and past President of the Boulder County Rental Property Association and served for several years on the State Board of Directors of the Colorado Apartment Association.He holds the GRI designation from the National Association of Realtors and the Certificate of Educational Achievement in Real Estate from the University of Colorado.Hast is a member of the Boulder Board of Realtors where he has chaired several committees, and of the Boulder Chamber of Commerce where he was a graduate of the charter class of Leadership Boulder in 1982.He had formal mediation training with CDR Associates and ended up serving as the Chairman of their Board for eight year.He helped start the City of Boulder Mediation Project and served as a mediator for the City, as well as acting as both mediator and arbitrator on several independent cases.He has also been appointed to several City of Boulder committees addressing landlord-tenant issues, and continues to be quite active in both local and statewide political and civic activities.He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Naropa University and is on the Board of several other non-profit organizations. Hast was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has lived in Boulder since 1973. He has two daughters who are out in the world doing wonderful things.
